Inuit kiss ph. White Wolf |
The day you smile at me
Like a wolf,
I will sing to the Moon.
The day your heart sees me
Like an eagle,
I will fly over the Earth.
The day you lie with me
Like a bear in winter,
I will slumber.
The day you join your hands with mine,
I will capture a dream,
And it will last forever.
The day you want a home,
An ice fortress I will ask of Agloolik,
And there we will live, listening to the wind
And dancing with fire under the stars.
The day we grow old,
And this life we must leave,
A year with Anguta we will sleep.
Awoken, one last time,
Out at sea I will take you
So that Sedna may show us
All the lands of the world.
The day we grow tired of going
To the Moon where Aningan dwells,
We will rest.
And when at the end of it all,
Like stars we will shine in the sky,
Still I will dream of your smile
In that humble tupiq.

this poem is meant as a homage to Inuit mythology,
as all world's mythologies connect humanity to
our shared sense of wonder before creation
