Life was not made to be understood
but lived.
Days are clock-bound,
but men should not run after them.
Nights end,
but dreams have a life of their own.
Ink runs out,
but imagination is infinite.
They call it the “Vault of Heaven,”
I say it’s the great within.
To look beyond
is to glimpse the first star
of the universe,
shining in the dark immensity.
by Jason R. Forbus
I like the negation emphasis used with "ought not". It makes the whole point the more true.

Thanks Anonymous Grrr! :D Always a very appreciative reader I must say. I got inspired to write this poem while driving and thinking about many things, among which the purpose and meaning of a man's life and whatnot. Then I arrived home and ate pancakes, and everything became clearer to me! :D
